Noman Sabit: The authority of the famous Time magazine has issued a legal notice to remove all online advertisements including the logo of the Bangladeshi-owned Time Television of New York. Time magazine has reportedly served a legal notice to Time Television claiming that the Time word and logo are their property. Dana Rosen, chief legal officer of Time magazine, sent Time Television authorities a legal notice on October 20.

Time magazine demands Time Television authorities to immediately remove all internet and online based advertisements. Also stops all activities related to Time. The notice said, Time magazine is a 98-year-old historical institution. It has more than one hundred million readers and listeners worldwide. Also, their logo is registered under US trademark law.

Time magazine authorities say that Time magazine’s red logo and red border on the magazine have worldwide recognition and fame. Even in Bangladesh they have registration under Trademark and Copyright Act. whose numbers are 5822, 8868 and 8869.

At the outset, Time magazine’s chief legal officer addressed Time executives, saying, “As I believe you are well aware, Time is a leading global news brand.”

He is involved in groundbreaking journalism across its iconic print magazines and digital channels.

Abu Taher, CEO of New York-based Time Television, said in his speech that Time Magazine and Time Television are two completely different media. Their television logo colors are all different and completely different than Time magazine. Time Television’s red, white and blue logo. He said, even he himself is not understanding the matter. However, he mentioned that this matter will be looked into by their lawyer.
