BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said that the police raid at her Gulshan office in Dhaka is a kind of “nasty politics”.

“Using police to raid opposition party office without any cause is exactly the kind of nasty politics we want to remove from the country,” she said in a tweet today.

Using police to raid opposition party office without any cause is exactly the kind of nasty politics we want to remove from the country.

In a surprise move, police raided the office to seize "materials for carrying out anti-state and subversive activities". They found nothing during the more than two-hour-long search.

"We did not get the things for which we carried out the search. We made a zero seizure list and wrapped up the search,” Salahuddin, inspector (investigation) of Gulshan Police Station, told The Daily Star yesterday.

The raid was conducted following a "mysterious" general diary (GD) filed with Gulshan Police Station on Friday. Police did not disclose the identity of the person who filed the diary.
